Hi guys, I'm going to sharing my experience of first time having hotel design planning. It is quite interesting for me in the beginning. However, after I studied it, it is not as easy as i think. During this hotel planning & design subject, the skills that required to complete our group assignment are Discipline Specific Knowledge, Thinking and Problem Solving skills, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Skills and Digital Literacy. For the Discipline specific knowledge, we need to understand the theories and context of hotel planning, then only can put this knowledge into practice. For the thinking and problem solving skills, we need to think critically and creatively in complete our group project, define the problems/ restaurant that we need to draw, and analyze it effectively and apply the knowledge and skills that we learn in the class into it. For the Communication skills, we need to discuss and present our opinion with our group mates effectively. For the interpersonal skills, we will be able to understand the important of teamwork, able to works with others in a team, and also develop the leadership in groups. And last for the Digital Literacy, Autocad is a new system that we learn, therefore we need to use this system effectively and apply the skills that lecturer had teach in it.
When working in a group, the most challenge part that we learn is drawing the Autocad. It is because we need to analyze the kitchen and dining scale, calculate the suitable one and arrange the area in a creative and efficiency way. In the contrast, the best part of working in a group, is designing the restaurant layout as all of us have our own idea, we share it out and put it together into the project . In my opinion, being a group member is good as we can discuss and exchange our opinion together instead of one people thinking, it will be taking a long time, and each person share the responsibility of each task, and finish it in an efficiency way. That why I'm quite enjoy working with my group mates. However, I think there is nothing different for us for doing the assignment as 3 of us is local Malaysian while 2 of us is from China, our language is same and we can discuss quite smoothly. The only different about working with group mates from different background I think is we have different opinions to our restaurant design project, however, i think this is also good for us as we can sharing the opinion and cooperate very well with each others.

For myself during this group assignment, the part that I think doing well is drawing the outline of layout design as I think it is easier for me using computer to draw something, I can follow the requirement and draw it while for the part that I think I'm not very well is calculating the scale of dining and kitchen area. It is because my math is quite bad therefore I cannot arrange and calculate well in designing the scale area. From all of the Taylor's Graduate Capabilities that I mention above, the skills that I still need to improve is my problem solving skills as it will take a long time for me to think the solution. Therefore, i can improve it by analyze it probably and asking the opinions from different people, then I will be faster figure out an effective solutions.
